Wenol Metal Polishing Tips
Time and effort are required to get a mirror shine. The harder and longer you work at it, the greater the shine. Use only small amounts of Wenol Polishes, working in a small area at a time in a circular motion. In a short time you will develop what works best. Most people use too much polish...use it sparingly.

Cloths;
Use only a soft type of cloth to avoid scratching the metal you are working with.
The best cloths are cloth diapers. Old and soft terry cloth such as towels and washcloths will work. Just remember that rough or course cloths will leave fine scratches on the surface and defeat your efforts for a mirror shine.

For faster results with tarnish on brass, dull aluminum and light patinas on copper, use buffing pads in a Dremel type electric tool or an electric drill with Wenol Red Polish. These types of buffing pads in varying coarseness are available at most hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.

With heavy tarnish, corrosion and patinas, Jewelers Rouge buffing compounds with coarse pads will have to be used with a power buffer to cut through to the metal. Eastwood Company among others is a good source for these polishing supplies.

The use of a mild acid to clean the surface before polishing could be helpful. Keep in mind to use extreme care when using acids. Keep acids away from painted surfaces to avoid damage. Mild citric acids and swimming pool acid (muratic acid) are the best possibilities. First, dilute the acid fifty percent with water to check for effectiveness, working up in strength in small steps with stronger solutions.

We have heard of people using aircraft stripper on tough problems....proceed with caution- always test a small unexposed area first.

CAUTION: The use of any chemicals must be used with extreme care. CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURERER OR VENDOR RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE USING ANY CHEMICALS.

With coated and anodized aluminum or deeply etched metals, a professional polish shop is recommended to remove these problems. Call us, there are shops we can recommennd for this.

The use of any metal polish on silver or gold plating is not recommended. If you wish to try, use the Auto Wenol (blue tube) lightly in an unexposed area.

Wenol Products and uses;

Wenol Red - a cleaner and basic polish to remove normal tarnish and fine scratches.

Auto Wenol (blue tube) - use on highly polished surfaces of chrome, aluminum, brass, copper and stainless steel. Also soft metals like gold and silver. Perfect for rubbing out small scratches in your paint job...not abrasive like rubbing compound!

Assessory Products;

Tool Tags - Clean your sockets with alcohol before applying. Apply the labels to the center of the sockets...not at the bottom as pictured. Most handling of sockets is at the top or bottom. This will prolong the life of the labels. The labels may also be applied to hand wrenches.
